In a world exclusive, BGS has learned that during their dalliance in Arizona, former Athletic insider Dianna Russini and current New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel staged proposals at three Cheesecake Factory restaurants in an effort to entice the establishment to comp the meal.
The news came to light during an area managers meeting this past week. The managers at the stores in Peoria, Phoenix, and Scottsdale all had similar engagement stories, and the coincidences were too much to overlook.
“At first we thought it was neat we got to be a part of so many big moments, and then we realized how it was pretty rare that it happens at one of our restaurants,” Peoria manager Davis Hixon said. “So for three to happen all in the relatively small area inside of a week, it felt sus.”
What apparently did it was the geometry of Vrabel. At 6’4’’, it’s hard to miss Vrabel, and when Hixon described the man as “trapezoidal with a widow’s peak” it raised suspicion among the other managers.
After reviewing security footage it was clear as day that it was Vrabel and Russini proposing, to rounds of applause each time. It appeared, at the Peoria restaurant, that Vrabel still had his wedding ring on while down on a knee.
“So remarkably stupid,” Phoenix manager Antwan Holden said. “You’re a public figure on national TV every week. You really thought you could do this undetected? I feel terrible for their families, especially the kids.”
All told, across the three meals, the couple were comped $1,213 worth of food and drink.
BGS reached out to Cheesecake Factory’s headquarters in California. While the company did not comment at the time it has since released a statement.
“The Cheesecake Factory has spent nearly half a century building its brand for high-quality, diverse food options. The Cheesecake Factory has also spent nearly half a century protecting its brand and image and does not take kindly to being hoodwinked. The Cheesecake Factory will take all legal measures needed to be made whole after this series of stunts.”
